Drug Product & Formulation

Drug product and formulation.
Milestone in mind.

Evaluate formulation and bioavailability approaches, prepare an early clinical formulation, or address a drug product challenge with the right experts and providers.

Your situation

When the formulation must support the next milestone.

You may be choosing an initial approach, preparing a phase-one formulation, or reconsidering a formulation after exposure, stability, or manufacturing concerns. The evidence and intended use should guide what is developed next.

What do you need help with?

Answer two short questions to explore relevant support. This is a conversation guide, not a scientific assessment. You can contact DEP at any point.

Scope and delivery

Useful outputs. Clear responsibilities.

What you bring

Available physicochemical, solid-state, formulation, dissolution, stability, and PK information; intended dose and route; study needs; and known supply or timing constraints.

What you receive

A comparison of formulation options and evidence gaps; a phase-appropriate development work plan; provider and proposal comparisons where needed; and review of agreed results against the program’s objectives.

Who does the work

DEP connects the development target to the formulation work package and coordinates delivery. Formulation and biopharmaceutics experts evaluate the evidence and options. Appropriate providers perform development, testing, manufacturing, and supply activities within their contracted scope.

For a phase-one program, scope can address an early clinical formulation and supply requirements without assuming the commercial dosage form is already settled. A spray-dried dispersion is one possible approach, not a default recommendation.
